ในฝรั่งเศสแยกการศึกษาทางด้านเศรษฐศาสตร์และการบริหารธุรกิจออกจากโรงเรียนพาณิชยการ เพราะถือว่าเป็นหลักสูตรที่ต่างกัน การศึกษาทางด้านเศรษฐศาสตร์และการบริหารธุรกิจต้องศึกษาในมหาวิทยาลัย โดย ทั่วไปหลักสูตรเหล่านี้เป็นหลักสูตรที่เน้นทฤษฎี เว้นแต่ในสถาบันทางวิชาชีพของมหาวิทยาลัย (IUP) ส่วนโรงเรียนพาณิชยการอยู่ในระบบโรงเรียนชั้นสูง ซึ่งจะผลิตนักบริหารระดับสูงในอนาคต ส่วนมากนักศึกษาที่มีจุดประสงค์จะ ทำงานในบริษัทจะเลือกศึกษาในโรงเรียนเหล่านี้ สำหรับหลักสูตรระยะสั้น เปิดเฉพาะในโรงเรียนพาณิชยการเช่นกัน แต่เป็นการศึกษาในระดับเจ้าหน้าที่ทางเทคนิค ในโรงเรียนพาณิชยการมีค่าใช้จ่ายของหลักสูตรสูงกว่ามหาวิทยาลัย เพราะสังกัดอยู่กับหอการค้าและสภาอุตสาหกรรมของแต่ละภูมิภาค บาง หลักสูตร เช่น MBA และ Maître อาจจะมีค่าใช้จ่ายสูงมาก ตั้งแต่ 4,573-22,867 ยูโร

DEUST : Diplôme d’Etudes Universitaires Scientifiques et Techniques

การศึกษาสายอาชีพระยะเวลา 2 ปี รวมทั้งหลักสูตรการฝึกอาชีพภาคบังคับ ผู้สำเร็จการศึกษาจะมีความชำนาญพิเศษเฉพาะด้านและวางพื้นฐานสำหรับกิจกรรมเฉพาะในด้านการผลิต เช่น

โรงเรียนบริหารธุรกิจมากกว่า 100 แห่ง ทั่วประเทศฝรั่งเศส เปิดสอนหลักสูตรระดับสูงทางด้าน Management และ Finance เริ่มต้นจากระดับพื้นฐานตามหลักสูตรปกติจนกระทั่งหลักสูตรเฉพาะด้าน เช่น Auditing - Finance - Marketing - International Trade - Human Resources หรือ Accounting ค่าเล่าเรียนของแต่ละสถาบันแตกต่างกันค่อนข้างมาก แต่โดยเฉลี่ยจะอยู่ระหว่าง 3,049-6,098 ยูโร
